GameStop today has responded, at least internally, to its efforts of removing coupons from new retail game boxes. In a corporate email that went out to GameStop stores they stated the following:

****
At this time please pull all Regular PC Editions of Deus EX: Human Revolution (640171) and place them in your backroom. These will be recalled at a later date.

As GameStop is developing a streaming service in our Spawn Labs Cloud Gaming Division, the coupon that was included is for a competitive service. We are returning all copies of the PC regular edition to the vendor in agreement with Square Enix.

An authentic email has surfaced from upper management at GameStop requesting GameStop employee's to tear open all new boxes of the game Deus Ex: Human Revolution and pull a free OnLive coupon.

Not only does this sound shady, but it could also be considered illegal - but I am by  no means an attorney. When gamers picked up their new game from stores, they have discovered the OnLive coupon was missing and shortly after the up roar, an email surfaced which shows gamestop management informing stores to take out the competitors coupon from boxes.

It would appear Games on Google+ is coming, how soon - nobody knows. Games on Facebook is one of the most popular things to do on the social networking site. Facebook has brought us games like Farmville, Mafia Wars, and tons of card games such as Poker. If Google+ is to compete with Facebook, it has to offer games for its users.

One of Google's help pages indicated a "Games Stream" where you can get updates from games but the help page has since been modified to remove the said reference. There have also been code references within Google+ which indicated "Game Friends" so there is definitely something there, just nothing available yet that we can see.

While EA and Steam bicker over their differences, millions of players on Steam will be unable to purchase and play EA's Battlefield 3 for the PC. EA recently published its digital retailers list (who you can purchase Battlefield 3 from Online) and Steam was not one of the dozens of online stores.

What seems like a foolish move of EA OR perhaps EA not able to make an agreement with Steam, could end up hurting the sales of Battlefield 3. Steam is the most popular content delivery system for PC games, especially multiplayer games. If EA can't get on the bandwagon, it could result in some lower sale figures and many unhappy gamers.
